Academic Support Sessions for International Students

These are free regular sessions that run over two semesters. They will provide support with general study skills and Academic English to help you achieve your full academic potential.

Each session is 2 hours long and all students are welcome to attend.

The first hour is a lecture covering the general skills relevant to that week’s topic. The second hour will be a seminar and will allow students to discuss in more depth the issues covered in the lecture in smaller groups.

The sessions will take place in Lecture Theatre V1 in the Cottrell Building.

Do I have to sign up for all classes in the module?

There is no need to sign up for all lessons. Just choose any that are relevant to you.

I am busy at that time – will there be other timeslots?

Unfortunately, these workshops only run on the dates advertised. You can however contact Student Learning Services at their drop-in services or attend their workshops, which are available to all students. More details can be found at http://www.studentlearningservices.stir.ac.uk

Can I access the course materials without attending the classes?

You can sign up to the module without signing up to individual lessons. This will allow you to access the course notes and other materials.
