Digital literacy is the ability and awareness of an individual to confidently and competently use digital tools to communicate, navigate, evaluate and create information. In the context of your career, this might translate to the following skills and competencies being expected by an employer:

using the internet, emails and search engines like google confidently
being proficient at Microsoft Office, including word, powerpoint presentations and spreadsheets
the ability to solve common software problems on your own
knowing how to keep devices up to date and use the internet securely
being familiar with common programmes, software, tools and cloud services , eg. dropbox or google drive
using social media like Facebook, twitter or blogging - especially in a professional or academic way

During your degree, you should have come into contact with a range of different technologies and programmes. While technology changes too rapidly for you to learn all technical skills available, you should have no reservations to learn them and keeping your digital skills up to date. Digital literacy is not just about being competent with tools, but also about being confident in using them, including resilience and prepardness as new tools and practices develop.
