Engagement
Learning and Teaching | Key Contacts and Module Info | Assessment | Classes
Full engagement in your studies will enable you to get the most out of the module and help you perform at your best when it comes to assessment. We expect you to engage with all aspects of this module and with your programme of study and we will monitor this throughout each semester to check that you are fully participating and that you are coping well with your studies.
It is therefore essential that you:
- Engage and actively participate in all activities and teaching sessions on the module
- Actively engage with the materials provided to you and prepare in advance of activities and teaching sessions
- Engage with your personal tutor, module co-ordinator or programme director if requested
- Engage in extra-curricular events, groups and meetings which are designed to support and inform your studies
- Engage with in-sessional English language support as required
- Submit coursework/assessment by the due time and date
- Undertake assessments at the specified time and date
- Make your module co-ordinator aware at the earliest opportunity if you experience
- problems which may impact on your engagement
- Inform the University of absence (planned or unplanned), e.g. illness, emergency as outlined here
Prescribed Activities/Attendance
Any prescribed activities/attendance requirements are clearly indicated in the learning and teaching/assessment sections of this Canvas module. If you do not attend or complete two thirds of the activities required, then your module grade will be capped at the pass mark.
International Students With Student Visas
We are obliged to monitor attendance and engagement for all students who hold student visas, and in particular at “engagement points” throughout semester. These engagement points will include activities on this module such as coursework submission and other assessments or activities where engagement can be monitored. If you have not attended or engaged with these activities, and we have no other evidence that you are engaging with your studies at that time, then we are obliged to report this to our Immigration Team. It is therefore really important that you engage with all aspects of your module and keep in contact with us, if you are experiencing difficulties in doing so.
You should contact internationaladvisor@stir.ac.uk if you have any questions regarding your student visa responsibilities or other matters relating to your student Visa. For more information read Visas and Immigration.
Monitoring Procedures
Engagement and progress will be recorded while you are studying this module and across your whole course of study.
If we are concerned about your progress or engagement we will contact you to make sure all is well. If you are experiencing difficulties of any kind which are affecting your studies, we can offer support and guidance to hopefully get you back on track. However, if your engagement continues to cause concern, we will invite you to a formal meeting to discuss this further.
Consequences of Non-Engagement
